Sorry, Folks!

I know all the cool kids have been pulling for me for weeks now. And I know that tension has doubled over the last two weeks as I drew near to the big goal. But unfortunately I’m forced to admit another week has gone by fully stuck in Twoderland. (Twoderland?)

In times of defeat, and especially when there’s clearly no one else to blame, members of our species tend to point fingers. “It’s not my fault!” goes the mantra. I’ve always viewed this as a sign of weakness and insecurity. That said, I am also no exception: I fully blame Hallmark for inventing the Day Of Chocolate. And also BJ’s Brewhouse for serving me beer.

But that’s just one day (not to mention the end of the story). Let’s look at the whole week, shall we?

Monday. The week started out well. I’d detected “carb fever” returning last Sunday so declared Monday my Second Fasting Day of 2009. I did not experience as dramatic a weight loss as the first time, but as I’m fond of pointing out, I don’t do it to lose weight. I do it to break the carb crave cycle.

Tuesday. There was beer and fries and chicken fingers at the end of the day. Nice “break-fast”, huh?

Wednesday. Do not follow up a fast with piles of fries because on Wednesday you’ll be back to craving the way you were on Sunday.

Thursday. Higher order brain functions prevail!

Friday and Saturday. Both good weigh-in days: two in a row at 200.5. Could it be? Could we actually be on the verge of breaking The Barrier?

Sunday. Nope.

Here you go. Bright red line is this week. Dark red line is last week, for comparison.

Day 203
Starting Weight 224.0
Current Weight 202.5
Change from Last Week 0.0
Lost So Far 21.5
Pounds To Go 3.5

So I started the week at 202.5 and ended it there, even after skimming 200.5 for two days. One day I lost 1.5 pounds and another day I gained 2.0 pounds. So, in short, I’d say it’s business as usual. The good news is, I don’t see any holidays in the near future.

Why I’d say, odds are by this time next week, I’ll have my first foot in Onederland.

at least you have the knowledge that your body can be at 200.5… and it will catch up eventually.. I know that frustration oh so well.. having been stuck at 208lbs at least 3 times and never being able to break through.. and end up gaining again (hence the 3 times.. haha)…

Just keep doing what you are doing.. pretty soon you will be out of ‘twoderland’ (which makes me think of tooterland… a gassy place.. haha.. I’d want to be out of their too)

Have a great week.. and thanks for the comments!

I love your blog for many reasons: the obscure Princess Bride references, the repetitive use of the words “monkey” and “ball” together, the mouth watering grilled PB&J pictures, but also because of your honesty.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve danced like that along various goals that I’ve had and while I wish you nothing but the best successes, I am relieved to know that someone else does that too.

Here’s to getting into Onederland (although, because of “That Thing You Do” I can’t help but call it O-nee-derland) once and for all. 🙂

Awwww, you are like a super bouncy ball on that chart. Valentine’s day weekend was bad, baaaaaad for a lot of people, myself included.

This week will be better. You keep hitting that wall long enough, it will cave in.

I thought for sure this week you’d be in onderland! Oh well, by next week you will!

Happy Monday! Saw your comment on Hannah’s video – I am so glad I taped it, even though its a bit shaky!

You can do it, sugar.

Meanwhile – one of the medications I take causes weight gain, even though I need to loose weight to get of the medication (round and round we go), but I’m hovering at the same weight I hit at the beginning of the year, so does that count as a good job??

Keep it up, Charlie…whether you want to be or not, you’re an inspiration.

In an attempt to be potentially helpful:

Periodic and intermittent fasting seems to work for you.

Have you tried limiting your carb intake? This might be the missing piece of the puzzle. (Please forgive me if you have, and have written about it–I’m a pretty new follower.)

Best of luck!

Carb fever … I know that disease well! I’m pulling for you for this next (holiday-free) week!

As for your stuck in twoderland, I have the answer.

Inconceivable that this could happen to you.

I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!

I feel no pity for you! I was a “good girl” this week, burned 5200 calories through exercise, and GAINED 3 lbs!

So frustrating!

Hang in there, you’ll break that barrier eventually.

Anne: I love that scene where they’re in the garage and Jimmy writes out “Oneders” to explain the spelling to Lenny, and Lenny says, “Got it. But this says, Oh Nee Ders.”

Kyddryn: Thanks.

Mara: I keep wanting to add, “Waterboy!” to the end of your comment.

Ruth: Has definitely crossed my mind once or twice. But then someone always ends up feeding me potato chips.

Tom: You should have seen how my land war in Asia turned out.

Bev: Let’s hear it: YES WE CAN.

Tammy: Yes, that was a worse week than mine. You hang in there too! Eventually doing the right thing always wins, if you stick it out and don’t let the anomalies get you in a funk.

Do you think the reason that you started eating the fries etc was because of the fast? How did your body react to it the first time? I know for me whenever I don’t have food for a long time or restrict myself too much then I get outta control.

And wow are you ever close to your goal! Rooting for you 😀

You can call it Twoterville 🙂

Any big plans for when you cross the threshold? I’d like to live a celebration vicariously through you since you know how to have a LOT more fun than I do! hehe Best of luck this week! You’ll dip your toe in Onderland. I’m sure of it. Blow your nose or something.

You’re so close, suck it up and get ‘r done!

Damn, sure wish I hadn’t gained back a bunch during the holidays! I’m no where near Onederland myself.

Lynn: Is that anywhere near Hooterville? And nope: no plans yet. It’s never seemed close enough, even when it was close.

Cynthia: The holidays are tough, no doubt, but if I can do it, anyone can do it! (Of course, anyone who has spent any time here knows I don’t believe that at all: but I still like to keep encouraging everyone nonetheless.)

Congrats on getting close. I myself am almost into onederland too. Ive privatly wondered if Im going to dance around it for a while. I seem to have a mental block about every major mile stone! sigh

I danced around onederland for quite a while…it’s just one of those big mental things I guess. You’ll do it and these silly weeks will be a fading memory. And besides the number, what does 2 lbs really mean anyway…not much!

You are so great. Yes, I’ve flirted with the promised land too.

You’ll get there. And when you do, happy dances all around.
