Ten Things

Last week we got through the first five of “25 Random Things About Me.” I think it turned out pretty well, don’t you? I thought so.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s just get on with the next five things in this mess. In no particular order, I present The Second Five Odd Facts and Figures You May or May Not Already Know About Me.

6. When I was twelve, I auditioned for a spot in a children’s chorus at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. About twenty-eight of us were chosen out of 300, so I didn’t do too bad. We went on to perform in the premier of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Paradise Lost. I think it’s funny the composer eventually got a mention in The Onion. That’s more than I’ve ever done.

7. I have an inexplicable attraction to model trains. I’m sure it’s genetic—and therefore there’s no cure until you’ve spent forty-thousand dollars on a massive layout which serves no other purpose than burdening your children upon your death. Fortunately, I’m only about hundred bucks into it. More fortunately, I have absolutely zero time to spend on it, so I may escape this dreaded fate after all. That said, if anyone’s interested, I’ll see you here on Sunday in San Antonio.

8. I’m married but secretly dating Diane Lane and Jennifer Connelly. (Please keep that to yourself, because if Uma finds out, I’m dead.)

9. I spent three years teaching myself how to put my pants on both legs at the same time because I never wanted anyone to think I was just like everyone else, once I became ginormously famous.

10. I would like to be on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Why? Well, she’s definitely very funny and I think I’m kinda funny too, so it might be an enjoyable get-together. (Although the real reason is I hear the guests get free donuts in the green room.) The only significant problem with my plan is feeling bad for all the audience members who waited months and months for their tickets, only to find out they’d just missed Orlando Bloom the day before me and Jennifer Aniston the day after. But oh well, that’s just their bad luck.

That brings us to two fifths of the way through this. Last week I asked everyone to leave a comment about themselves, but I think that scared folks off. So please leave any sort of comment you want today. Don’t be shy. Oh, and Tom wins the free one year subscription to my blog. Congrats!

Enjoy my writing? Then don't forget to come back! I just might post something good tomorrow, too. Subscribe via RSS , via email, or share it with a friend. If you really like it, put me on your blogroll. That'd be sweet.
