Once Every Decade

I honestly had no idea I was embarking upon a three-month hiatus when I posted my April Fools Day post. Especially since I’d just gotten back on a semi-regular blogging schedule. Yet here we are.

I only have one excuse, but it’s the best excuse ever: I’ve been busy. So very, very busy. New day job, home improvement projects, major project at work, high school graduation (not me), and everything in between. I’m just back from a week-long business trip and very much hoping for a bit of calm for a while.

Seems like as good a time as any to write a blog post. (But will anyone ever read it? That is, anyone other than the millions of visits per hour I get from spammers. They must really like my work!)

Diet 113

So! Where’d we leave off? Oh yes: it was Diet 113. If I recall correctly, I was a couple weeks into the new diet and nothing was really happening. That looked like this:

I was seriously thinking that there’s really just no point in this any more. I’m in my 24th year of dieting and frankly, it’s just not as fun as it used to be. But, it’s seemingly my only real skill in life and so driven by some unknown compulsion, I kept on going:

Say, not too bad. Except for that all-too-familiar upturn at the end, it looked like things were finally falling into place a bit. And . . . driven by some unknown compulsion, I kept on kept on going:

Holy crap, look at that. I got all the way down to 183.5. The last time I was that low was eleven years ago (and then it was only because I was heading back up and out of my Great Diet Success of 2001-2003.) And before that it was heading back up and out of my Great Diet Success of 1991-1993.

Hmmm… yep, it’s been a decade. Seems like I’m due for another Great Diet Success.

Tune in next week and I’ll reveal my big secret.

Spoiler alert: there is no secret.

I am glad it wasn’t you who graduated high school, the people that hired you might have been a bit confused by that!

Wow, great job Charlie! I am hoping things get a bit calmer in your world!

Hugs! Love, your prettiest sister, Biz

I’m sure they will be. At least for a week or so.

Me too Charlie, I always read.

Glad you’re having success. I’m another story but won’t go there.

Have a great and blessed week.

A post! Yay! At least your blog posts aren’t once every decade. I’m (a little) patient but that sort of interval would put even our long standing online relationship to a severe test.

I can’t seem to muster as much enthusiasm for losing weight as I get past a certain age. I am interested in ways of eating that keep me from continuously gaining weight, though. And that said, it is up the stairs to the scales for me, hoping whatever news is revealed there will fortify willpower for the day at hand. Onwards!

I hear you on the enthusiasm thing. Really, for the most part, it’s all about the maintenance. I’ve gotten pretty far the last few years, so the main goal is to not lose that ground. But every once in a while the stars align and I see an opportunity to grab that very next prize. And, thus, the cycle continues.

    I should write a book.
