It Knows…

It knows. I know it knows. It knows that “194” is officially the “thirty pounds lost” mark. And every time I hit that milestone, my body retaliates. “Ha ha!” my body says, mocking me. “Try to outsmart me, will ya?”

Check it out:

On the one hand, I was happy Wednesday. I optimistically wrote, “And it’s only Wednesday!” in my spreadsheet. I then pessimistically wrote right next to it, “I’m sure I’ll screw it up somehow…”

And look at that: gained two pounds over night. I’m not entirely surprised. I ate a ginormous amount of popcorn that evening, while watching Up. The part I don’t get is why it’s quite common to gain two, three, or four pounds overnight, but it takes days and weeks to get back down. It just doesn’t add up.

Week 45
Starting Weight 224.0
Current Weight 195.1
Change from Last Week -1.4
Lost So Far 28.9

That said, on average it was a pretty good week. I’m still a big fan of averaging the seven days and using that number. It means one bad day won’t mess it up (under the old reckoning, this week would have been a zero pound change: a far less interesting number). Of course, it also means a big drop at the end won’t swing the average much either. But that’s as it should be. And besides, when is there ever a big weight drop at the end of the week?

Guess we gotta have a positive attitude, eh? πŸ™‚

It sucks how popcorn seems to always lead to a plus of poundage/bloatage, though. It’s so darn tasty.

You can’t go to the movies without getting popcorn!

Happy Monday Charlie!

I’m guessing the salty popcorn leads to a water weight gain. Or something like that. Since I am a “weekly” reader I missed chances to applaud/encourage/assure you along with the others that whenever you write, we will be here to read you. Books, blog posts, whatever.

I did like that comment to drop in on the blogs of your commenters/readers to comment and let folks know you’re still around though. If I might speak for everybody (and I am so get over it) it is always a happy time to see a Charlie Comment on any of our blogs.

Happy Summer!

You’re doing a lot better than me! I dont seem to have a net loss at the end of any week in 3 months….boohooo!

Not complaining really, I’m enjoying myself too much for that πŸ˜€

yep, salt retains water. Sugar retains glycogen water. You can’t win with popcorn! Try lettuce leaves rolled into balls…….lol

Yay, averages. My problem is the only time I ever think to start doing that is when I’m plateaued. And 0 lbs lost isn’t very interesting even if it’s an AVERAGE of 0 lbs lost. Still – looking good!

Do you believe in that whole “Secret” thing about putting postitive thoughts, ideas and wishes out there and they will happen? The same goes for bad thoughts, etc. I’d like to believe…. so I’ll hedge my bets. I recommend that you do that too. No more little side notes of pessimism. Good luck!

I swear the same thing is happening to me!! I’m hovering up and down, up and down, at the 50 pounds gone mark. I think once I even made it to lost 52 pounds. But now I’m at -47-point-something. So how do you fix it? I’m eagerly awaiting the answer from you, some guy on the internet I don’t know but am certain has all the answers cause you operate this magical blog world. And Mike. He probably knows too. Cause he’s made millions posting links on google.
