You’re Kidding!

lovin-itIf you’re thinking about taking the kiddies out for a quick bite, be warned. Most kids’ meals at fast food restaurants have too many calories. I know! It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? I could have sworn the nuggets, burgers, fries, sodas, and shakes were the perfect meal.

Taken from the Obvious Files of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a recent report looked at the nutritional data for restaurants such as KFC, Taco Bell, and Chili’s Bar & Grill. In most cases, more than ninety percent of the meals contained over 129,542 calories. Most kids shouldn’t eat more than 100,000 calories per meal.

I can’t imagine that most people who decide on a quick visit to the Big M Supper Club on the way to soccer practice are actively concerned about excessive calories. Like it or not, we live in a fast world and it takes a certain amount of strength to Do the Right Thing™ at all times. We know most of those meals aren’t exactly the most healthful alternatives. We also know we should get eight hours of sleep each night. Life doesn’t always go the way we want it to.

Still, what of reports like this? Personally, I find them annoying. Just seems like a lot of time, money, and effort spent to learn things we already know.

Look for more gripping reports like this soon. I’m sure we’ll hear about such revealing topics such as:

  • Hey, guess what? You probably shouldn’t smoke.
  • Sitting in traffic, not moving, lowers your gas mileage.
  • Pretty good chance the sun will rise tomorrow.
  • Next Harry Potter movie stands to sell a lot of tickets.

Hey, I’m pretty good at this. I should see if they’re hiring.
