First Thursday of the month: time to reluctantly report in. Astute readers may have noticed the reappearance of “Return to Onederland” in the post title. Yep, I can’t pretend I’m mostly still in Onederland and “just over a bit.” No, based on the last couple weeks and what’s surely ahead, it’s time to return to Return to Onederland.
As you can see from the wonderful graphic image I created for today’s post, Day One #95 began this week. Why? Well, you already know why. It looks something like this:

Man! This is what the graph is supposed to look like after New Year’s Day. Not the week after Turkey Day.
| Week 1 |
| Start Date |
Dec 1, 2009 |
| Starting Weight |
207.0 |
| Current Weight |

| Lost So Far |
0.5 lbs |
The plan now is, of course, to hold it together as best I can until through the holidays. The real Christmas Miracle would be to wake up January 4 and find myself hovering around 200. I could be happy kicking off 2010 with that kind of a number. In second place would be: just holding where I am. Worst case would be . . . well, you already know what worst case looks like.
So here goes! Next post in this category will be January 7, 2010. And good luck to everyone until then. We’ll need it!

December 1st, 2009
Here are a couple unbelievable facts. In fact, they’re so unbelievable, you might not even believe them. First up: it’s December. Yes, it really, really is December. Second, and somewhat related, NaNoWriMo is officially behind us.
A week ago I called myself a winner, but strictly speaking, this isn’t true. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. The idea behind NaNoWriMo is to start (and finish!) a minimum 50,000 word novel in a single month. I disqualified myself from the very beginning since I started on November 2nd with 30,450 words already under my belt.
It had taken me three months to write thirty thousand words. (Or sixteen years, depending on when you start counting.) So the thought of actually writing fifty thousand in a single thirty-day period was beyond my comprehension. So I had two goals: 1) a very lofty goal of adding 50k words to the existing manuscript; or 2) add 20k words to bring the grand total to 50k.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d not only add 50k words but also do it with a week to spare. About fifteen minutes ago I wrapped up that last week. Final word count for November: 64,580. Total word count for the entire manuscript at this point: 95,030.
So yeah, in just one month I more than doubled three months (or sixteen years) of work. Hear that sound? That’s me patting myself on the back.
Of course, I’m still nowhere near done. So the fact that I started before November and will finish way after November means I’m not really a NaNo winner. But that wasn’t the point. The point was to get my rear in gear. Mission accomplished.
My next goal? To actually come up with a plot.
Wish me luck. I’m going to need it.
